Day 1: Bari - Matera

Arrival at Bari Airport and transfer to Matera, UNESCO World Heritage site. Along the route to Matera, if Your flight arrives in the morning, the coach stops in Altamura, town famous for its tasty break. Check in and overnight in  Matera at Hilton Garden Inn Hotel 4*, 2 kms from the city centre, lying on an area of 50.000 sqm and with SPA, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, gym, restaurants and bars.

Day 2: Matera

Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Guided city tour to explore the enchanting “Sassi di Matera”, the ancient town of Matera. Typical lunch in a restaurant carved into the rock of Sassi area. Overnight in  Matera at Hilton Garden Inn Hotel 4*.


Day 3: Matera - Maratea - Policoro - Metaponto - Matera

After breakfast full day private excursion with a local guide to the picturesque Maratea and to the Ionian coast where you visit Policoro and Metaponto. Transfer back to Matera. Overnight in  Matera at Hilton Garden Inn Hotel 4*.

Day 4: Matera

Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Full day at leisure for individual visits and shopping or to relax at the hotel SPA and swimming pools. Overnight in  Matera at Hilton Garden Inn Hotel 4*.

Day 5: Matera - Venosa - Melfi - Monticchio - Matera

After breakfast full day private excursion with a local guide to visit the area of Mount Vulture with its castles. Transfer back to Matera. Overnight in Matera at Hilton Garden Inn Hotel 4*.

Day 6: Departure

After breakfast check out and transfer to Bari Airport.

The ancient town of Matera is known as “Sassi”, made of peasant houses carved into the rock and remained true over time. Its territory has evidence of human settlement from the Paleolithic era and has a unique and incredible rock landscape. Matera is a UNESCO World Heritage and European Capital of Culture 2019. Full day tour with Your local private guide to visit the narrow roads of Matera, to see the rocky church, the typical houses into the rock, the old winery of 1700. You visit the city centre with the main square with noble palaces, Baroque and Roman churches. Lunch at the “La Talpa” restaurant (or similar) carved into the rock where you can taste typical courses of this region and the local Aglianico del Vulture wine.


Maratea is a charming town with a medieval structure made up of narrow and picturesque streets.  It’s named “the town of 44 churches”  because of the huge number of its religious buildings, such as the Church of the Annunciation and the one of Santa Maria Maggiore. Out of the city center, on Mount San Biagio there are also the ruins of old Maratea and the Statue of the Redeemer, overlooking the majestic landscape between the sea and the mountains.


Policoro is a rural village in a beautiful location on the Ionian coast. It’s famous for the agriculture, the crystal sea, the presence of rare sea turtles who have chosen this place to breed. Sightseeing tour of the town and visit of  the archaeological park of Siris-Herakleia and the nearby museum.


Metaponto is the most important archaeological area in Basilicata. It was founded in the mid 7th century b.C. by the Greeks and it became one of the most important colonies of Magna Grecia. Visit of the archaeological park including the majestic ruins of three temples, the Doric ones of Athena and of Apollo with the adjacent agora, and the Ionic temple dedicated to Aphrodite, built around 470 b.C.


The Mount Vulture is a sleeping volcano completely covered by forests and is the highest point in Basilicata. Together with your guide You visit Venosa, town of ancient origins with evidences of the Roman and of the Medieval periods and important abbeys, such as the one of the Holy Trinity. This town is known also for its wide area of excavations with baths, residential complex and amphitheater, for the nearby Jewish and Christian catacombs, and for its castle.  This private tour includes the visit of the Castles of Melfi and of Lagopesole. The Castle of Lagopesole was built in 1242 by Emperor Frederick II and it’s the last and biggest of his buildings. It lies on Norman ruins overlooking the Vitalba Valley. The Castle of  Melfi is one of the most important medieval castles in Italy. It can be dated back to the Norman times and it was changed over times, especially in Angevin and Aragonese periods. It has four entrances and is surrounded by ten towers.
