Short break in the Alps
Join us for a short scenic Alps trip. You will travel from Milan to Mathon and then to the Albula Alps, a lovely mountain range in the Alps of eastern Switzerland. Driving this stretch guarantees wonderful views like that of the rough, weathered Albula Gorge. An unspoiled pass, with a wonderful tight run up through the meadows before the wild-romantic Albula Valley quickly opens to some beautiful sweepers and breathtaking peaks. On the north ramps views of the glacier express and some of the wonderful viaduct bridges this amazing railway line runs along.
The journey continues towards the Müstair Valley which is a little-known mountain valley south of the Ofen Pass offering a secluded haven with a mild climate. The trip across the Ofen Pass is an adventure. Together with the Swiss National Park, the valley forms the Biosfera Val Müstair Parc Naziunal, Switzerland’s first UNESCO biosphere reservein the high Alpine region. A visit to this wonderful place is a must for culture lovers because of the frescoes at the monastery of St. Johann, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.
Discover Naturno, one of the most popular holiday destinations in South Tyrol and a great location for a nature-based vacation. The locals take great pride in their produce: the fresh fruit, wine, and cheeses of this area are alone worth the drive. On both sides of the Sonnenberg and Nörderberg mountains there are numerous traditional dairy farms.
Walk up through the Tessa Group Nature Park which covers 33,000 hectares and is the largest of South Tyrol’s seven natural parks. Particularly picturesque and rich in history are the surrounding villages of Cirlano, Tablà and Stava and the neighbouring hamlet of Plaus. In the heart of each village lies an enchanting church. One unusual glimpse into the past can be discovered in the walls surrounding the St. Ulrich Church graveyard.

Albula Pass
A wild pass, with a wonderful tight run up through the meadows before the valley quickly opens to some beautiful sweepers and breathtaking peaks. On the north ramps views of the glacier express and some of the wonderful viaduct bridges this amazing railway line runs along. This is a very unspoiled pass, in particular the rugged section through the woods on the ascent to Naz. At the summit of the pass, close to 2400M, you really do feel that you are on a moon landscape, and the plateaux sweeps some 5 KM directly out in front of you, before starting the descent, this particular stretch is really what a dream road is all about! The ascent on the south side can be quite steep bumpy ramp down that quickly becomes tight and twisty as you plunge into the lush forests of the valley, before heading down onto the Engadin valley, from where you have direct access to the resort of St Moritz – where better to stop for an evening to let the experience sink in a little.Val Mustair
The Val Müstair is a little-known mountain valley south of the Ofen Pass, designated as a regional nature reserve of national importance. Together with the Swiss National Park, it forms the Biosfera Val Müstair Parc Naziunal, Switzerland’s first UNESCO biosphere reserve in the high Alpine region. This valley is only accessible via the Ofen Pass from the remainder of Switzerland. Everyday life here is accordingly quiet and secluded. It is characterized by traditional village, an inviting terrain and, thanks to the southern aspect of the valley, a pleasant, mild sunny climate.Naturno
Naturno is now one of the most popular holiday destinations in South Tyrol. Up to a height of 900m a.s.l., wine is also produced in small quantities. On both sides of the Sonnenberg and Nörderberg mountains there are numerous traditional dairy farms. During summer time in Naturno there are many events like jazz festival, Wine Fsestival and so on.Maso brandhof
Dinner at Maso Brandhof. This farmhouse stands at 1,044 mt. above sea level on Monte Tramontana with fantastic views of the surrounding countryside and towering mountain peaks. The menu features local specialities such as canederli – bread dumplings flavoured with Speck, cheese or vegetables, Speck – raw, cured and smoked pig meat and various cheeses.Tessa Group Nature Park

The churches house wonderful altar paintings, Baroque paintings and ceilings painted by local artists, as well as a late Gothic winged altar. One unusual glimpse into the past can be discovered in the walls surrounding the St. Ulrich Church graveyard. Vinschgau artist Luis Stephan Stecher created his “Plauser Dance of the Dead” here. In 18 scenes he depicts our constant companion, Death.
